I’m in the process of redesigning a church website I built back at the beginning of 2006. It was just a static site at the time. I’m working on new graphic’s and layout‚ along with the mark up for Wordpress that will driving the database.
It was what they wanted at the time‚ but time’s change and their is a need to have a more dynamic site. Trying to keep up with the sermon’s and the ten question’s in the evening class‚ so they can give the answer on line.
It will take a little time. I’m using a blank Wordpress theme. I just like doing thing’s my own way. I think just knowing it was my own layout.
I’m in the process of restructuring My site here. I just got finished with the graphic’s and the presentation. Now I’m working on the layout of the individual page’s‚ I’m also adding a blog page to the site and working with Wordpress and Textpattern for my CMS it will take sometime to learn the tag system. But I’ll keep working on it on my local computer. Textpattern has a little longer learning curve‚ but I think it will be worth the effort in the long run.
Wordpress give’s me the opportunity to learn PHP and how design my own site’s. With both Textpattern and Wordpress‚ it give’s me two different CMS to offer to Client’s and away for them to update their site’s.
It’s been sometime since I posted on the site. I had to many distraction’s‚ with my band‚ designing a few site’s and trying too fine the right cms for me that is easy to work with‚ and is accessible. So that my Client’s can update their site’s‚ one that you don’t have to hack to make it accessible.
I’ve been reading a lot on accessibility article’s the last month. And found that with the law’s that are changing. That when I design a website I will make the site’s as accessible as I can and they won’t lose any of there graphic’s. Lot of it is done on how you write your mark-up from skip to navigation to content and when you resize the text that your site does not break. It is a lot to think about but in the long run you want to reach as many people you can. So that when they visit your site either to buy your product’s or to read your blog they’ll keep coming back.
Just what I’ve been talking about I’m going back and fixing some of my mark-up and css so that I can obtain the standard’s that I pride myself in to give as much and more to accessibility‚ everybody has a right to surf the web and enjoy the content that we put out as designer’s. “Take pride in you work”.
